The New & Improved: BlueJar Theme 2.0

The new BlueJar 2.0!

When I first caught wind of starting my own blog, I decided to buy a WordPress theme. I had never modified a WordPress theme before and I loathe the thought of having to work around PHP to theme a script. Even though I code in PHP, I typically keep my code separate from my templates because I like them separated. I thought maybe it was like OS Commerce, which is a pain in the butt to theme. After I purchased the theme, which looked nice in theory it was not functional at all. Only the basics were coded for the demo basically.

Now I’ve finally dug into my theme. I redid the entire CSS and recoded just about everything. In the long run, now I know how easy it is to theme WordPress and I have no idea why I didn’t just do it myself in the first place! I am very happy with the results. I guess sometimes we need a little push to see the light at the end of the tunnel. So without further hesitation, welcome to the new and improved, BlueJar 2.0!

Of course there is always room for improvement! If you have any suggestions or comments, let me know.

I really like the layout. Nice colours too :-)

I considered buying a WP theme thinking that it would be set up so I didn’t have to tinker with anything. Do you mind saying where you purchased your theme?

Thanks Dee! I’ve been working this the whole week to get it up and running properly.

I bought it at SitePoint Marketplace

If you do buy a coded theme. Just ask a few questions to make sure everything is truely ‘coded’. Not just what you are seeing in the demo. Also you can buy ‘non’ coded themes too, if you are a xhtml/css snob, like I am, that might be a good way to go.
