About 4 years ago my brother in law told me about XHTML and CSS. I remember I got upset and irritated by the thought of having to ‘relearn’ HTML and how I coded table style. I did a little bit of CSS for my hover links, but that was about it. Eventually I decided to check out what XHTML/CSS was all about and I started with navigations. I found Listamatic, by Max Design and reviewed their style of creating navigations. I quickly discovered how easy CSS is to apply to websites and to create navigations.
Basically their tutorials show you how navigations can easily be created with lists, either horizontal or vertically. You just write up your List CSS and enter your links between the <li></li> tags, and your all set. It really is that simple once you learn the techniques used to create list navigations. Lists make great navigations to because if you want to add or remove an element you can do so very quickly. There are a lot of free navigations that you can take and use on your website and modify to fit your needs already, or you can view their Listamatic tutorials to learn how to do it yourself.
Max Designs also features float tutorials and select tutorials too. The tutorials are easy to follow because they have a lot of examples for you to see and experiment with. These guys really know their stuff! Once I tackled learning the list navigations, it was easy to move into other areas of my website and to quickly convert them over to CSS. If you are looking for a place to start learning XHTML/CSS coding, start off with something small like lists navigations. Once you get the hang of it you can easily move into other areas.
