Getting Started With HTML

So Where Do You Learn All This Stuff? You Know “Webmaster Stuff”.

I often wonder how others get started wanting to be web designers, developers, and all the professions that have sprung up in-between. I got started in High School, back in 1996. I remember I was in the office of our theater teacher (YES! I was in theater and I even made the dance team) and one of my comrades was talking about their website.

I went online to check it out. I thought it was so cool. It was some silly AOL website with some pictures and some really bad 1996 free animated graphics. I wanted that. I wanted that really bad. I went all over looking for tutorials and websites with those free AWESOME animated graphics.

I stumbled upon many websites. The one that I stuck too and used for many years as a reference was PageTutor (formly it was hosted at his ISP — those were the days). For those out there just starting out, Page Tutor is still an excellent resource to learn how to create a web page.

Months later, I found out that my friend actually used one of those website making programs provided with her free hosting from AOL. I just kept thinking, huh? I could have made my website with “software”?!?!?!?
