Free Online Web Tutorials & References at W3 Schools

W3 Schools has the best tutorials and references for learning most of the current popular online scripting languages such as basic HTML, XHTML, and CSS. Even advanced scripting such as XML, SQL, and WAP. Click on their side navigation for what you want to learn and they have each aspect of the scripting language broken down into sections with full page examples and explanations. Along with the examples, they have their own practice browser to easily update the examples and test it out quickly yourself.

Currently it is one of the references I use anytime I forget a specific attribute that I’m working on. There is a lot to remember with all these different scripting languages and their guides help me get the information I need quickly. They have a very easy navigation to find exactly what I need, I don’t even use the search feature because the navigation works so well! Best thing about the website is that it is fast. The advertising on the website blends in very well and I don’t really see it, especially when I’m in a get it done mood and I’m just breezing by. It is mostly a text website too, so its all about the learning and not so much about flashy images and pictures to get in your way.

For the beginners, they have a great beginners tutorial called Web Building Primer that will help you get familiar with the general terms and the different options you have available to you. For the more advanced developer, they have a great web building tutorial that gives a great overview of all aspects of developing on the web including end-users, design information, and web standards. Overall it has a little something for all webmasters to reference to for just about any scripting language they are learning or currently use.
