Finally Updated My About Page

behind the scenes

At the end of August Bush posted about changing what your’re about. Basically he said your about page should do more than just talk about yourself. Your about page should talk about your blog and what it is about too. I completely agreed with him, especially when I looked at my about page and realized that it indeed was about ME and not about my blog at all. I went to work and wrote out out my rough, very rough, draft of my about page quickly but just didn’t get the time to make it post quality.

So fast forward till this past week when Bush finally updated his about page and which I informed him I had written mine but just had not actually posted it. He did a great job on his new about page, you should check it out for some inspiration.

Now again on Saturday when he was kind enough to give me some link love, I informed him that I haven’t updated it. Now he has been calling, text messaging, e-mailing me non-stop, and all out stalking me. Actually it was just one e-mail, but I thought that it would sound a lot more interesting to have a stalker. Thanks Bush for the reminder!

I’ve gone ahead and updated my about page and it is officially about BlueJar.com, including its author of course. I’ve even updated the about page with a snazzy new photo of my 6 month old son and me (also featured in the photo in this post). I figured he would make me look really good since nobody would be looking at me, but just the cute baby.

Let me know what you think about my new about page and if you have any suggestions.

    Sarah,

Great job on your about page. I need to revamp mine here shortly (mostly the picture!).

Thanks to your about page, I now know that we have a lot in common. I’m about your age and have a 4 year old and a 8 month old.

I think you’re website makes it obvious that you are a professional web designer. Its incredible! I may have to run some things by you, as I’m having some troubles getting my menu to look the way I want. :D

    Sweet and simple about page.

  10. Sarah on September 16th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

I really got all my fellow women bloggers to speak up about the baby picture huh? :c) Who can resist a cuddly face! Thanks Shaun and Felix, it is not a long book as it was before so hopefully it won’t bore new visitors.

@Megan: How many kids do you have? And when the heck does a person get out of the young age? I was young when I got married, young when I had my first, and now after my second I’m still young!

Much more useful thank you :D .

Makes me think I should update my about page, it’s a bit low in content :S

Sarah, your new About page is short and sweet. I particularly liked the part where you provided some ‘quick-start’ articles that could well define your site to any new reader. Interesting!

Maybe I should include a picture of me and my little niece on my blog ;)

    Sarah,
I was wondering how you look like and I like your new about me page very much. I will take this post as a guidance to update mine, once my new template is loaded.

    Hopefully soon….:-O

Oh My God Sarah you are beautiful :P and so is the cute little boy

You are probably one of the first girls ever to inspire me :) to be honest. I love your blog. Keep on rolling.

    Sarah,

Looks like we have a lot in common! I have 4 year old and 8 month old boys.

I think it is obvious you are a web designer. Most people can probably tell by the incredible layout of your website. I may have to contact you some time soon, because I can’t get my menu to display the way I want it to :D

The about me page looks good . And your son is really very cute .

  17. MDB on September 17th, 2007 at 7:27 am

Wow, he is alittle cutie (and so is the Mum). Where did all his hair come from though, I have a 6 month old (daughter) too, but she is still practically a skinhead!!

  18. Bush Mackel on September 17th, 2007 at 7:35 am

Sarah, this was a hilarious write up (at least to me). Thanks a lot for all the link love, and once again – FANtastic job with your about page! It looks great! (#):D

  19. Sarah on September 17th, 2007 at 11:15 am

Thanks everyone for your kind words about my son, he is the silliest little guy! I knew he would steal the show, that was the whole point. :c)

If you do plan to update your about page, be sure to check out Bush’s write up about the different aspects of creating a good about page and let me know so I can check it out too.

  20. Susan Suarez on September 17th, 2007 at 12:02 pm

He’s so cute! My little one just turned 1 last week – and she’s my first so far. He has SOO much hair! Much more than my little girl!

  21. menopauseprincess on September 18th, 2007 at 10:49 am

    Hey Sarah,

I too, love your about me page. You have a great energy and of course that little boy is precious!
You asked Megan “when the heck you get out of the young age?”. Let me tell you, it happens before you know it so enjoy being in the young age while you can!

  22. Sarah on September 18th, 2007 at 11:37 am

@Susan: She will get her hair! Hubby and me both had hair when we were born, so both our children did too. You can put his hair in ponytails already though, it is scary!

@menopauseprincess: Glad you like the about me page, I feel like writing about such technical things can drain me a lot and doesn’t show how crazy I really am. Your right, I’m young and I should just be living it up! Thanks for reminder. :c)

  23. Brown Baron on September 19th, 2007 at 2:01 am

Are you sure you’re not sisters? You guys look adorable.

  24. TechZilo on September 19th, 2007 at 3:22 am

Your little princess looks so cute! (you too ;) , though what’s up with that hair dress-up?

  25. TechZilo on September 19th, 2007 at 3:29 am

Oops, just realised it was princess ….sorry

  26. Sarah on September 19th, 2007 at 2:35 pm

Hehehe if you have a picture of a girl, people think you have a boy; or if you have a picture of a boy, everyone thinks they are girls. It never fails :c)!

    @TechZilo: what hair dress-up?
