BlueJar.com Monthly Update: September 2007

BlueJar.com Monthly Update: September 2007

September has been an excellent month for BlueJar.com! I am simply amazed at the growth and I am happy to report that I’m sure the group writing project has helped a lot. (This is just a little nudge to encourage others to run group writing projects too!)

Linkbacks

The group writing project has certainty boosted the amount of linkbacks I have. I currently have 821 reactions at Technorati placing me at 11,804 and 343 authority. This is a huge improvement from last month with 366 reactions, authority of 195, and my rank was 24,535. It is all just a numbers game, but being a stats whore the numbers look nice.

RSS Readers

Last month I had a hard time reaching my 60 RSS subscribers, so I decided to not make a goal for this month. On the 15th I published my RSS subscriber chicklet, however before that I was still seeing healthy subscriber rate. It wasn’t until my group writing project ended that I saw a sharp rise in my RSS subscribers pushing me over 100 and on the highest day I actually reached 133! I think a combination of the group writing project and actually displaying my RSS feed count helped with the sharp rise. Thanks to everyone that has subscribed to my RSS feed!

Comments

What can I say? Comments are just the juice of my blog and I thank all of my commentors for contributing their feedback. Last month I had 322 comments, September has really outdone itself and brought in a total of 535 comments bringing my total comments to 990! Just 10 shy of 1,000. Thanks again to my commentors!

Website Traffic Stats

Unique visitors this past month reached 11,432 with a total of 23,102 page views. This is a great improvement from last month:

Thanks to StumbleUpon for the majority of the traffic and this month my search engine stats have really gone up too. I’m very happy that I’m gaining more search engine visitors and hope to keep growing that number:

Last month I did a separate post for the top posts, but I thought it fit in nicely into my monthly update. Here are Septembers top posts:

Goals for BlueJar.com

This month my main goal is to just keep posting. It pretty much has been my goal from the start, but now more than ever that is what I need to focus on. My secondary goal is to get a few guest bloggers, as I am going on a trip at the end of the month. contact me if you are interested.

I want to just send out a special thanks to my subscribers and to all of my visitors. This blogging adventure continues…

    Hey Sarah,

Great going your blog and the stats look impressive and I think the longer I’m in this the more I tend to become a stats whore myself. :-)

You’re doing crazy! I know what you mean by being a stats crazy woman! Is so interesting watching my tech points go up by a few points a day. Is like a MMORPG game.

Thanks everyone, it has been a great month and this month really did well because of the great bunch of commentors I have here at BlueJar.com! You guys rock.

@david: Your right david, it is just like a MMORPG game or any online role playing game. Sometimes it is addictive and other times it tends to tapper off thankfully giving us a little break.

@Annie: Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Great looking stats indeed. That’s only the start though. This month will be even sexier. Congrats on a job well done :)

Congrats, those stats are pretty impressive. It is impressive to see significant stats within the first few months of beginning a blog. It’s also very hard to replicate and I think you have done a great job with the group writing project.

    Keep up the good work!

  12. Dee on October 3rd, 2007 at 9:13 pm

Thanks everyone! Blogging is hard work, but I guess it does get easier as you blog more. I think before you blog you’d never know what running a blog really is.

Congrats on some awesome statistics! As a stats whore myself, I’m very jealous.

Though it makes me hopeful to hear you had a subscriber jump when you published the chicklet, that makes me think that I might get one too. (I’m close to posting it)

Thanks for the insight and update,

    - Mason

  16. Sucker on October 4th, 2007 at 6:04 am

Nice job! I might have to run my own writing contest now and try to get a big stats boost myself :D

What analytics do you use btw.? I like the look and feel of it.

  18. Felix Ker on October 5th, 2007 at 8:00 am

I wonder, which is best social bookmarking/networking site that brought you most traffic?

  19. Karthik on October 5th, 2007 at 9:09 am

Great going Sarah, I’m one of the 100 odd subscribers and you earned me from the GWP too ;)

Impressive growth for 3 months :)

  20. Sarah on October 5th, 2007 at 10:59 am

@Mason: Oh, don’t be jealous of me! There are so many others doing better than me. Hopefully it will inspire your competitive side!

@Sucker: You should, I would certainly join in!

@Tad: I’m using Stuffed Tracker. It is a click tracking script, it is great! Using it for a lot of my websites and it gives very detailed, accurate stats.

@Felix: I can go down further in my stats and it is StumbleUpon. Digg is at a distant second.

@Karthik: Glad to have you here and thanks for commenting too!

  21. Aseem Kishore on October 8th, 2007 at 3:29 pm

WOW! How to you have so many commenters on your site!?!? It’s really impressive!!! Are these all from people just finding out about you??? Are some friends, etc?? I have a good number of visitors from Google, etc but I don’t really get that many comments! Maybe it’s just my content…!

Anyway, great job and all the best!

  22. Rochow on October 8th, 2007 at 7:30 pm

    Nice!

Alexa is within 100,000 too that’s awesome. You’ll have to post your tricks ;)

  23. John Lampard on October 10th, 2007 at 12:56 am

Very impressive stats for three months - congratulations :) I think you almost need to be a “numbers person”, and be a little competitive, to do well with blogging these days :)

  24. Sarah on October 10th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

    Thanks guys!

For comments, I really tried from the start to get comments. I actually didn’t have any blogging friends or invite my other online friends to read my blog because I didn’t know what the heck I was doing and plus how many of my friends/family even understand what a blog is! I think the best thing to get comments is to comment on other blogs, but really comment. Read the articles/posts and show an interest. This is easiest to do if you comment on subjects you yourself are interested in or passionate about.
