I have been watching the contests blogs for quite sometime. A few have really caught my eye, but I decided not to go with them as they are just all linkbaiting contests. I really want to do another Lwriting contest because they seem very beneficial to all blogs that participate. If anybody is aware of any, let me know as I haven’t been able to find any. I might just start my own at this point!
The Contest Broke Me
The newest blog contest that just showed up last night is one by Blogging Experiment. I know his blog is only about making money, which we kind of have a lot of them already and there are a few out there with this 1 year goal sort of thing going on. The prize package has my eyes twinkling for this contest. Any blogger can defiantly benefit from this contest too.

That is a great package for any blogger. If I win, I do plan to hold my own contest with this prize package. Will need to confirm this with the Blogging Experiment.
The Contest Rules
All you have to do is link to his blog with the text make money blogging. He will accept the link in any post, in your blogroll, or even with similar anchor text. You don’t even have to make a post like this to enter. So for those that don’t like to make full posts for these contests, here is one you can enter that has a great prize.
The Twisted Catch
There is one catch, that is that his RSS has to be over 150 by the end of the contest on September 1st. For fair game, if it goes over 250 he has extra prizes to give to the winner. Visit the contest post for more information.

Sarah, thanks for entering the contest! I’m glad you like the prize package, that’s what I was hoping would happen. I’m not sure about offering the same prize package again, as two of the three prizes were donated. Besides, I think most blogs would benefit more from the prize package than from a contest giving away the prize pack. If the winner does want to re-gift the prizes so to speak they would need to take that up with each gift’s sponsor.

I’m not sure who Chris Garrett is, but judging by the later two I guess he has something to do with SEO?
I was thinking about joining Blog Mastermind, but I kept getting emails about it joining almost every day so that really turned me off. I hear it’s an excellent program I just don’t like getting those types of reminders.
I finally ordered SEO Book early this morning. After reading so many reviews about the ebook I felt I might as well give it a try. I had a chance to read a few chapters I really like his writing style. I should have purchased it months ago.
However, these tips along with the advice I received from a buddy (pro blogger who makes over six figures) this past weekend I think will help me dramatically.
Great prizes, but the contest seems a little…bad.
You said link-baiting, not me. But really, this blog is just trying to get ranked highly for “make money blogging” by getting a lot of people to link to them with those words. It’s pretty much the definition of abusing search engines. Don’t you think?
I’m a little surprised you would want to participate in this contest, since it sounds like it is things like this that hurt search engines in the long run. Bloggers need to be in the fight for using links/search engines/blogs correctly. Produce content, be linked naturally, etc. Avoid schemes and bad practices. Thoughts?

A few months ago there was a website that started ranking higher than mine upon closer inspection I found they were link baiting.
I was on the first page but shortly after that I was bumped. Talk about frustrating….
I have also been keeping a look out for another writing blog project. It was fun, and I added so many blogs to my reader.

@Blogging Experiment: I actually did surf around the rest of you blog and did learn a great deal so far. Especially the newest post you came out with, which I wanted to do my own case study about commenting on a very popular blog, getting into the top commentors spot to see what it would do for referrals. So ironic that you actually did it! Saves me some time though.
@Opal: I don’t know who thought e-mailing somebody daily would make them buy something, but it certainly doesn’t work on me. When you are done with the book, be sure to give a review since I’ve come across that book often, but the price is so steep for me since I’m not really making any money these days.
@Ryan: I feel that this form of linkbaiting is not a bad idea if the keywords are relevant to the website. It turns evil to me if they want me to use a keyword that has nothing to do with their website and that to me is abusing search engines. There are several forms of linkbaiting out there, this one is not sugar coated/hidden linkbaiting which a lot of other websites attempt to do. Anytime linkbait is put out there it is to gain something for the website. It comes in the form of free templates, free scripts, free anything really that requires a linkback :c). Do you think free templates or scripts are better or the same form of linkbaiting?

I held off for so long because of the price but I like the fact that I’ll always be updated for free.
At least I’m not the only one put off by the constant emailing, lol. Once a week I could stomach but almost ever day, gah!
I was going to review a software app (Snapz Pro X) it lets you take record movies while you are on the computer. That’s perfect for ow to tutorials I do for my client. I had been eagerly awaiting for the MacBook Pro they give you a 30 day trial but every time my MacBook wakes up in the morning I get this pop up box reminding me that it’s the trial, and I have x amount of days left. Well, Duh! I think I knew that.
That would not bother some people, but I frankly find it annoying. I’m currently looking for something similar. That really turned me off. I’ve always purchased software that gave me a free trial; however, I highly doubt that I’ll purchasing this one. I haven’t even tried the software out yet.
I’ll still review it, but I’ll also include that aspect as well.
I mainly do reviews, and tutorials on my Apple Mac website.
